Jessica Burton - Harpist for Weddings and Events

Mira

Mira is a new exciting harp duo featuringJessica Burton and Sarah MacNeil playing both acoustic and electric harps. Sarah comes from Larbert with roots in Barra, and can also be heard playing in folk fusion band CherryGrove. Together as Mira they create a fresh and diverse sound, using advances in technology to play the electric harp through a variety of pedals, stimulating interesting new ideas for Scotland’s oldest instrument.

Jessica and Sarah met whilst studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, connecting through their similar tastes in music, and a joint interest in composing – both individually and collaboratively. Their debut five track EP Mira was released during the summer of 2013 and has been played on many radio stations including BBC Radio Scotland’s Traveling Folk and Radio Alba. Jessica composed the second track on the EP,Libby Kelsall of Glaitness House, Sarah wrote tunes Married Life and Merry Dancers, whilst track three begins with the tune Aura which the duo wrote together.

Mira have performed at various festivals across Scotland including the Edinburgh International Harp Festival, and the Orkney Folk Festival. They are looking forward to performing more together in the future. If you have any enquiries please get in touch through the contact page.
